For extractions, mixes and reactions the machine is working as a contactor, You should familiarise yourself with the function of the high mix bottom plate which must be installed in place of the low mix sleeve
The functionality of the unit remains the same for an extraction or water wash however the unit will be used to mix two liquids in order to create a mass balance transfer before separation.
To conduct a mix and separation function both inlets (1 & 12) should be utilised for the aqueous and organic phases and the low mix sleeve replaced by a high mix.
Without the low mix sleeve the liquids will be exposed to the spinning rotor, which will accelerate the mixing, contact and mass balance transfer.
Mixing is conducted outside of the rotor In the annulus zone (13) before liquids move into the rotor.
Procedure will now continue as per a separation |
